| | I plan to do my own bridal makeup for my wedding in 6 months and would appreciate any feedback/tips for the creasing under my eyes and a glowier finish overall. I’m open to purchasing some new products (considering rhode glazing milk, Patrick ta eyeshadow palette, a good brow gel and a good powder bronzer but would appreciate any suggestions!) Note: I will be much more tan for my September wedding as well! I have fairly dry skin but it is easily managed with my current skincare routine, meaning that my skin does not appear to dry or flake throughout the day when I am not wearing makeup. It is only once I apply makeup that I notice dryness setting in after only an hour or two of wear. This dryness mainly occurs under my eyes, upper lip, and near my smile lines. I would love some advice on whether my products or technique might be the problem, and what I could swap with! I plan on doing my own makeup for my wedding, which is one month from now, so I want to dial in my products ASAP. ***Here is my skin prep routine*** -Byoma Creamy Jelly Cleanser -Medik8 Crystal Retinal strength 6 - 3x weekly (only at night followed only by my moisturizer/eye cream) -First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads (when needing to exfoliate) -Byoma Hydrating Milky Toner applied with Byoma Phyto-Mucin Serum (generous amounts of both) -Bubble Power Wave Super Hydrating Moisturizer -Bubble Star Dew Hydrating Eye Cream I wait for everything to absorb before starting with my liquid makeup products. ***My Makeup Routine*** -NYX The Face Glue Face Primer OR ELF Power Grip Primer -Foundation: L'oreal Paris True Match -Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape -Setting Powder: ELF Halo Glow OR L.A. Girl Pro Setting Brightening Loose Powder (I never "bake" and use small amounts) -Setting spray: Urban Decay All Nighter (the moisturizing one in the yellow bottle) -I apply all wet products with a damp beauty blender -I apply my setting spray after wet products and after dry products to lock everything in. I DO NOT use a "finishing spray" after setting spray (ex. ONE SIZE by Patrick Starrr On 'Til Dawn) -I have tried applying setting powder with both a small powder puff (tapping the excess off onto my hand first) and a small fluffy brush (tapping off the excess) with both of my setting powders. Both powders and techniques give me the same drying result. -I have tried the same routines with and without both of my primers, with the same issue occurring either way. Blush and bronzer are not a concern for me since those areas do not seem to dry, so I am leaving those products out. ***My concerns/questions*** Could my foundation or concealer be the main cause of this dryness, even with hydrating skin prep? Are there non-drying alternatives to my foundation and concealer that you would recommend? Is there a setting powder alternative that will not contribute to the dryness? Will a finishing spray followed by a setting spray help from preventing changes in my makeup? (I am considering buying the Skindinavia Bridal setting spray and an undecided finishing spray if so). Any other routine, technique, or products you would suggest? I really appreciate any advice you can give. I have put a lot of effort into my skincare the past few months leading up to my wedding day to prevent drying and I am feeling lost as to why my makeup still ends up looking dry only after an hour or two of wear. - DIY desert wedding makeupHi all, I am getting married in the middle of the desert this summer. I used to be quite the makeup connoisseur but swapped that out to get fully into skincare for the last 8 or so years, so I need some help. I’m looking for advice on best makeup lines or best products for foundation, concealer, and maybe powder that lasts all day and doesn’t melt when I sweat. - First DIY bridal makeup trial!I posted on here a couple weeks ago about my disappointing makeup trial with an MUA and I decided to just do it myself because I know my skin best. I’m not a huge full glam makeup girl and really want to look like myself on my wedding day. This was my first attempt, and going forward I plan to add lashes (tried clusters and failed, bit of a learning curve) and work on my eye makeup as a whole. I bought the ND I Need a Nude palette and love it, tried a more pinky look. I’ll also be figuring out a better lip color! And getting my brows done for sure. I cannot for the life of me get my left eye too match my right! It looks rough 😬 it also seemed like the eyeshadow became patchy after a while, see pic 4 Good news is this lasted me hours, and with some tweaking and more practice I think I can get it done. - Subtle wedding look that’s more than my everyday?Hello everybody! Wasn’t sure if this was more of a wedding subreddit post or not, but assumed since it’s more makeup focused it should go here. I’m wanting a bridal look that’s more than my everyday (just mascara, blush, and the occasional lipgloss). I’ve done a trial with my sister who will be doing my makeup to help stay within budget for our small/simple backyard wedding. Is there a way I can do a single shade eyeshadow look with VERY minimal eyeliner??? I’m not wearing false lashes here, but am toying with the idea of a very wispy false lash. Will it look too simple/subtle? How do I stay true to my more clean and simple look without under-doing it for pictures etc.? Additionally, I’m wearing a buildable tinted moisturizer here, some highlighter and blush, my favorite eyeshadow stick as a base with a bit of darker brown powder eyeshadow in the corners, tinted eyebrow gel (I’ll be getting my brows waxed and laminated before don’t worry lol), and a glossy tinted lip butter.
