Combination skin and dull what to do?
Our take
In the ever-evolving world of skincare, combination skin can feel like a never-ending juggling act. Our friend, who bravely shared her struggles at 39, highlights a common dilemma: seeking that elusive glow while managing the unique needs of a complexion that can’t seem to make up its mind. With her experience using CeraVe’s face wash and oil-control moisturizing gel cream proving beneficial for breakouts, she’s on the right track. However, her quest for radiance continues, as her skin remains dull despite her efforts. This situation resonates with many who find themselves in a similar boat, navigating the choppy waters of skincare with a mix of hope and skepticism.
Interestingly, the conversation around combination skin isn’t just about the products we choose; it’s also about understanding our skin’s changing needs. For those grappling with this type of skin, which can often be oily in the T-zone and dry elsewhere, finding the right balance is crucial. It’s no wonder that our friend has found some relief with La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Duo+, which has become a go-to for many battling breakouts. Yet, her experience with the CeraVe Skin Renewing Eye Cream echoes a sentiment shared by many—some products simply don’t deliver the promised results. This highlights the importance of trial and error in skincare, a theme that resonates in other discussions like those found in our articles, such as skin care help!! and Skincare struggle advice and how to reduce pore.
As she explores options like Froya and The Ordinary, it’s essential to approach these brands with a discerning eye. The internet is rife with information, but not all of it is trustworthy. The search for products that can effectively combat dullness while still being gentle enough for combination skin is a nuanced endeavor. It’s not uncommon for consumers to feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of choices, especially when faced with marketing that promises miraculous transformations. This is where the need for community support and shared experiences becomes invaluable. It allows individuals to make informed decisions based on real-life results rather than just glossy advertisements.
The pursuit of glowing skin is not merely a cosmetic journey; it reflects deeper themes of self-care and empowerment. For many, taking the time to understand their skin and find suitable products is a form of self-love. As our friend navigates her skincare routine, she embodies a relatable struggle, reminding us all that beauty is multifaceted and often messy. It’s a journey, not a destination, and each step—whether it’s a success or a misstep—contributes to our understanding of ourselves.
Looking ahead, it will be fascinating to see how the skincare industry evolves to meet the needs of diverse skin types, especially those like combination skin that require a tailored approach. As consumers become more educated and discerning, brands may need to step up their game to provide not just products, but solutions that resonate with authenticity and effectiveness. Perhaps the next wave of skincare will embrace this chaos, celebrating the beauty found in imperfection and the shared stories of those on the same journey. How will your skincare routine evolve in this ever-changing landscape? Let's keep the conversation going!
Hello I'm 39 and my skin has become a mess! I've been trying to understand what can I do and so far the best thing has been the Cerave face wash and the oil control moisturising gel cream for my combination skin. This has 100% helped with the breakouts I used to get often. When I get a breakout, which has happened less and less I use La Roche Posay effaclar Duo+M and it does the trick.
However, the CeraVe Skin renewing eye cream, I can't tell the difference. I was using Nuxe for the baggy eyes before and I didn't notice any difference.
But also. And this is the main thing. My skin is dull. And every time I've tried something it doesn't seem to do well with my combo skin.
I was looking at Froya but it seems very scammy, and then some things from The Ordinary, but I still can't tell. Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

- skin care help!!hiya divas! i'm a 23 year old who is struggling to find the right skin-care routine. i have dry skin and fairly large pores. i'm prone to acne breakouts as well, though it isn't bad enough for me to use acne products just a couple here and there. i'm currently using Cerave face wash and moisturizer, along with The Ordinary niacinamide serum, plus a hydrating toner and using a glycolic acid toner twice a week. my skin is better, but the pores and a few wrinkles around my eyes are bothering me really badly. any suggestions for a glass skin look? bonus for anyone who can give me a good hydrating primer that's cheap, my makeup is always cakey i swear submitted by /u/CurrentAggressive466 [link] [comments]
- Skincare struggle advice and how to reduce poreHiiii! I’m 21F and I have very combination-to-oily skin. Since it’s summer, it gets worse — I need 2–3 blotting sheets just to control the oil, and I always use each sheet only once. My skincare routine includes a cream acne cleanser, RL Dokdo toner, Skin1004 brightening serum, and a moisturizer. At night, I use a Meditherapy retinol 3 times a week instead of the serum. My pores don’t seem to be improving, and my skin often looks dull. I don’t really struggle with acne—just 3–4 pimples a month—but I do have a habit of picking at blackheads and whiteheads I can’t resist. My whiteheads also seem to appear almost overnight, even though I don’t wear makeup. I’ve realized I’m not using any exfoliator, so even after cleansing my skin still feels oily and not fully clean. If anyone has similar skin or has dealt with this before, I’d really appreciate feedbacks or any product for managing oiliness, reducing blackheads, and improving the appearance of pores. Pls pls pls help a girl out! submitted by /u/Puzzled_Classroom743 [link] [comments]
