Contact Dermatitis on my eyelids and lips because of makeup

Our take

Hi friends, I’m reaching out because I’m feeling confused and a bit sad about a recent issue with my makeup. It seems I’ve developed contact dermatitis on my eyelids and lips. Despite using high-end products like Too Faced concealer and mascara, my skin reacts with redness, swelling, and itchiness whenever I apply makeup in those areas. I've switched products and consulted a doctor, but the irritation persists. Has anyone else experienced this sudden intolerance to makeup?

Hi friends,

I’m posting this here because I’m really confused and sad and would love to know if anyone has gone through this and if yes what did you do about it?

Basically, I think I’ve developed some kind of contact dermatitis on my eyelids and lips. I went to a doctor and they asked if I had started using anything new, but I hadn’t. They told me to eliminate products one by one, so I did that and I’ve actually changed all my makeup since then, but it’s still happening. Ps. all my makeup has always been high end so i’m sure it’s not because of buying cheap makeup. i was using too faced concealer and mascara

What I’ve noticed is that this does NOT happen when I don’t put makeup on my eyelids or around my lips. But whenever I use concealer or foundation in those areas, my eyelids and lips get red, irritated, a bit swollen, and itchy. It’s not acne, it’s more like a rash and the skin feels tight and sometimes burns.

I’m starting to wonder if this is an ingredient allergy, or a damaged skin barrier??

Has this happened to anyone else where you suddenly couldn’t tolerate concealer or foundation around your eyes or mouth anymore? Any help would be appreciated…
