Our Take: The Great Cool-Toned Lip Gloss Quest

Ah, the eternal quest for the perfect cool-toned lip gloss! It’s a journey many of us embark on, navigating the glittering aisles of beauty stores (or the endless scroll of online reviews when a Sephora isn’t conveniently located, a relatable struggle indeed!). Our fellow beauty enthusiast, u/mep507, has thrown down the gauntlet, seeking the elusive Crystalline gloss from Ilia, hoping it’s the cool-toned siren song her fair complexion and silver hair have been waiting for. She’s fallen for the texture of Ilia’s Overglaze, but "Enamel" proved a little too warm for her liking – a common pitfall when you’re aiming for that icy, chic vibe. The mystery deepens with Crystalline, described as "pink-beige," a phrase that can mean a million things in the beauty world, especially when videos often involve lip liner, a tool our seeker doesn’t intend to wield. It’s a glamorous puzzle, and we’re here for all of it.

The dilemma of undertones is where the real chaos of makeup magic happens. Is "pink-beige" a sophisticated whisper of cool or a sneaky warm embrace? And then there's Porcelain, a contender that sounds promisingly pale and milky, potentially hitting that cool-toned sweet spot. It’s this blend of aspiration and the delightfully messy reality of makeup experimentation that makes the beauty world so endlessly entertaining. We applaud the confidence in knowing what works for your unique beauty, and the willingness to dive into the research, even when the visual evidence is, shall we say, less than illuminating. It's all part of the fun, isn't it? Turning a potentially frustrating search into a mini-adventure, armed with the hope of finding that one product that just *clicks*.

Ultimately, the search for Crystalline is more than just about a lip gloss; it’s about embracing the empowered feeling that comes with finding the right shade, the one that makes you feel utterly yourself. It’s about the relatable moment of discovering a product’s texture is divine, but the color is just… off. This is where the humor in the chaos shines through. We’re rooting for u/mep507 to find her cool-toned holy grail, whether it’s Crystalline, Porcelain, or something entirely unexpected. The journey itself, filled with witty observations and the shared experience of beauty sleuthing, is a testament to the vibrant, engaging community that celebrates both glamour and the honest, often funny, pursuit of it. Keep that confidence high, and the lip gloss quest continues!

Hi, beauties! I don't have a Sephora near me but have tried a sample of the Ilia Overglaze Lip Gloss in "Enamel" and lovvve the texture but the shade was too warm/peachy for my skin tone. I have a fair complexion with silver hair and need cool undertones on my lips. Do you all know if the Crystalline gloss is cool toned? It's described as pink-beige but I'm not sure of the undertones cause most of the videos I've seen have people applying it over a lip liner which doesn't help much, and I don't intend to use lip liner.…
