Dyson Airwrap: Worth the Hype for Damaged, Thick Hair?

Hey there!

3 min readBeauty

Okay, darling, let's talk about the Dyson Airwrap. You're eyeing this piece of hair *couture*, wondering if it's the magic wand for your thick, a little bit fried, but still fabulous hair. And honestly, I get it. We’re all trying to navigate this glamorous minefield of hair care, aren't we? Between the allure of perfectly smoothed locks and the very real threat of those pesky fried baby hairs, it’s a whole mood. You’ve been wrestling with your Drybar round brush, and let’s just say, that’s a battle many of us have fought. It’s like trying to get dressed for a gala in a whirlwind – you want the polished finish, but sometimes the process feels like pure chaos.

Now, about this Airwrap. Is it worth the splurge? It’s a question that echoes through the digital ether, and frankly, the answer is as nuanced as a perfectly tailored gown. For hair that’s a little more, shall we say, *enthusiastic* in its thickness and prone to feeling a bit parched, the Airwrap’s promise of less heat damage is a siren song. The Coanda effect, while sounding like something out of a sci-fi film, is essentially genius engineering that uses air to wrap and style your hair. Think of it as having a tiny, incredibly skilled stylist living in your bathroom, minus the gossip. For someone like you, who's looking for that blowout charm without the blow-dry battle scars, it’s definitely got potential. The idea of transforming your hair from "damaged and dry" to "effortlessly chic" is, frankly, aspirational.

When it comes to which model, it’s like choosing between a classic Chanel flap and the latest limited edition. The newest Coanda2x sounds tempting with its speed, but if you’re primarily eyeing the curling and smoothing attachments, the original or a refurbished model might be your more sensible, yet still luxurious, choice. Don't underestimate the power of a good deal, especially when it comes to a high-ticket item. Think of it as finding a designer sample sale – the glamour is still there, but with a more approachable price tag. And the travel aspect? While the case might seem like a commitment, the tool itself is designed to be surprisingly lightweight. It’s all about finding that balance between functionality and fabulousness. So, is it a waste of money? For some, perhaps. But for those of us who crave that salon-worthy finish with a dash of self-care and a whole lot less heat stress, it might just be the confidence boost your hair has been waiting for.

Hello! Considering a splurge on a Dyson Airwrap. Curious about your thoughts on if it's worth it, which model and why?

40/f and fairly low maintenance, always had good hair but no real blow drying skills and it's been feeling damaged/dry. Particularly some fried looking baby hairs at my temples. I have been using a Drybar round brush hairdryer which I think is pretty damaging. Straight thick hair with a bit of a wave to it, armpit length and color treated.
