Hair rant

Our take

Long, thick hair has been my crowning glory for as long as I can remember, often prompting people to think I was sporting extensions. But in a moment of misguided DIY enthusiasm, I decided to take a risk with a Shiseido perm from Amazon, and it backfired spectacularly. I over-processed my hair, losing a staggering 80% of it—a regret I carry daily. Now, I’m on a mission to salvage what’s left with oils, peptides, and a healthy diet. Has anyone else faced this hair horror?

I’ve had long, thick hair my whole entire life. People would think I had extensions all the time.

I ruined it.

I’ve been getting Brazilian/Japanese hair treatments for as long as I can remember with no issues.

November of 2025, I decided to DIY it and bought the shiseido perm off Amazon and I must’ve done it wrong or the product was bad, and I over-processed my hair for no damn reason.

I have the money but was being stingy at the time. I DEEPLY regret it. I’ve lost 80% of my hair. No exaggeration.

I’ve been trimming it and taking so much care of it in attempt to save what’s left on my head.

I’m taking pumpkin seed oil, oiling it regularly (as I always do), and just started using p*ptides, plus a healthy diet.

Anyone experienced this before? Any advice?

If not, then please don’t do what I did. You will regret it.
