What hair colour? Wanted to go younger and thinner but didn’t work out.

Our Take: Hair Today, Silver Tomorrow: A Colourful Journey to Confidence

It’s a universal truth that sometimes, the most profound journeys of self-discovery are found not in grand pronouncements, but in the quiet, everyday acts of transformation. For our contributor, /u/teacuptrooper, this journey has been painted in a spectrum of hair colours, each shade a chapter in her evolving narrative of confidence. It’s a relatable sentiment, isn't it? The desire to feel seen, to feel *good* in front of a camera, is something many of us grapple with. But where some shy away from the spotlight, teacuptrooper has found her rhythm in the vibrant, sometimes chaotic, world of hair dye. From the sun-kissed blonde of summer to the daring silver of New Year's, her hair has become a canvas for her personal evolution, a playful rebellion against self-doubt.

The real magic here isn't just the changing hues, but the underlying thread of empowerment that weaves through it all. While the initial hesitation to be photographed is understandable, the commitment to experimenting with hair colour speaks volumes about a growing comfort and a desire to express herself. This isn't about chasing some elusive ideal of "younger and thinner," as the original post touches upon, but about embracing the present, about finding joy in the process. The sheer variety – blonde, pink, copper, silver, and back to blonde again – shows a spirit of adventure, a refusal to be boxed in. It’s the kind of bold, yet grounded, approach that resonates deeply. After all, who among us hasn't considered a dramatic hair change when facing a new chapter?

As teacuptrooper stands on the precipice of a new career as a brand manager for a beauty wholesaler, the question of her next hair colour becomes more than just a cosmetic choice; it's a reflection of her readiness to step fully into her professional and personal power. The consideration of going darker, lighter, or maintaining her current shade is a testament to her thoughtful approach to self-presentation. And while the allure of perfectly coiffed curly hair might be a delightful aspiration, the acknowledgment of the time and energy it demands is refreshingly candid. It’s this blend of aspiration and practicality, of embracing the glamorous possibilities while staying rooted in reality, that makes her story so compelling. It’s a reminder that confidence isn't always about a flawless facade, but about the courage to experiment, to embrace the colourful chaos, and to ultimately, own your narrative.

From Beauty

I've never been a fan of having my picture taken (never felt pretty enough to be comfortable with it), so the images are probably not that good. I HAVE been a fan of changing the colour of my hair though.

Usually, I go back to being blonde. Last summer I was blonde, got some pink going (no pictures of me with that), and then went copper. As fall faded I started going blonder before trying silver grey over new years. Currently, I am very light faded blonde.
