Help! Makeup is separating
Our take

| I used to wear foundation all the time and after years of struggling with it and dealing with acne I gave up. I find makeup extremely overwhelming, but yesterday I decided to try again. I went to Sephora and the saleswoman walked me through a very lightweight routine that she said was good for acne-prone skin. It's not even technically foundation, just tinted sunscreen, so I hoped there wouldn't be an issue. I talked through every step with her and followed her instructions exactly. I had such high hopes and was devestated today to realize how cakey it looked after four hours of wearing it. The routine is as follows: -First wash my face and moisterize with Cerave night cream -Ciele SPF 50 tint and protect tinted sunscreen (the lady said I didn't need primer with this routine) -Tower 28 concealer on undereyes (this is the only thing I picked myself) -Makeup by Mario bronzer -Saie slip tint setting powder In the evening I use differen for my acne and cerave night cream again. Does anyone have advice for me? The lady at Sephora also suggested setting spray but I am worried that the more products I put on the worse it will get. I also have naturally big pores and everything settles in them. [link] [comments] |

- Makeup always looks a little "cakey"Hi everyone! I've been on the hunt to find products that don't make my face look cakey after a couple of hours of wear. The routine I've found that has made me look the least cakey is: - Moisturizer: La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer - Sunscreen: Beauty of Joseon - Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics - Primer: NYX Face Glue - Foundation: LAWLESS Forget The Filler Skin-Plumping Line-Smoothing Foundation - Powder: Innisfree Translucent Mineral Powder - Setting Spray: Morphe Continuous Setting Mist It looks good for the most part and it's the most transfer-proof I've tried but it still isn't perfect. What can I do to change that? Does anyone's makeup ever truly look seamless? lol I believe these are all water-based products. I've also started incorporating the Ordinary 5% lactic acid once a week to hopefully exfoliate a little but is there anything else I can do? (My skincare routine is usually just Youth To The People cleanser and moisturizer) submitted by /u/SliceSuspicious8182 [link] [comments]
- Makeup clinging to dry patches not matter what?Hey everyone. So the last 6months or so, my makeup looks HORRIBLE. It clings to dry skin, flakes, and separates almost INSTANTLY after applying. I actually look worse with makeup now. It also literally disappears??? You can see in the photos that it didn’t cover up my pimples, even tho when I first did it, they were covered. I’m like wtf am I doing wrong. Especially bc I have been doing my makeup for YEARS, never had this problem before. It started outta nowhere and is just getting worse and idk if it’s my skin, product, techniques, or everything in between. I’ve tried EVERYTHING so can someone help me out and tell me what I’m missing? For example: I’ve added a pic of my makeup. This was taken 10min after application. Here’s all the exact steps I did before Skincare / prep - washed faced with hydrating cleanser - exfoliate (Purito Seoul exfoliator pads) - milky toner/ essence - serum - eye cream - Moisturizer - charlotte tillbury Luminous glow face cream I waited 10 min to let everything absorb like ppl suggested, then went in with makeup. I DID use a primer (hydrating one) and I let that sit for about 1-2min before anything else Foundation (used a damp sponge, wrung out all the excess water) Concealer (just on pimples) Coverage Powder (light dusting) Added some bronzer and blush to give more warmth to my face. Did setting spray also submitted by /u/Pretty_Card_956 [link] [comments]
- Need help for graduation makeupHello! I'm graduating this friday with my bachelors. I don't wear make up very often and when I do, I usually wear really light make up or just do my eyes. But because this is a few hours long, I want to look beautiful in photos so I can look back, I want my make up to hold up. Today I did a practice session. I also have dry skin but oil build up around the upper part of my nose because of my glasses frames and the sides of it. Products: I used... Elf green concealer, elf camo hydrating concealer, elf soft glam satin foundation, elf hydrating face primer. Forgot eye primer, but I have a milk one for that. Tarte paarty powder blush, tarte shape tape setting spray, elf perfect finish HD powder. I did sunscreen first (elf one again), primed the face primer. Then I did the color corrector on my cheeks, below my neck, chin, and around my lips. I get VERY red when I'm flustered which I will be that day so that was a must but otherwise I've never used it before. I was enjoying being a green goblin. Then I did the concealer on those areas but also my nose and a little on my forehead. Then I did my foundation with a wet beauty blender. At this point everything seemed fine and I did setting spray and fan dry. I didn't use liquid blush because I find they are very pigmented (and not the color i thought i was getting??) and I enjoy the soft blush look so I used my tarte 'paaarty' blush. I applied the HD setting powder with a velour powder puff, focusing on my nose particularly because it's the worst. At first everything looked okay! Here's a few pics. And then maybe an HOUR AND A HALF of wearing it... Looks really bad. My nose was itchy (everything is itchy right now. I was tested for allergies but nothing came up but I live in north east texas AND EVERYTHING IS ITCHY). I sneezed so I went to blow my nose. The make up just slides off with the lightest touch. I had to readjust my glasses; the frames are caked in make up and the lines are embedded in my nose from my frames (don't think much can be done for that). 3 hours later the bottom of my frames dented my cheek make up apparently. But I went from looking soft and kind of airbrushed to my nose almost completely revealed, below my nose is messed up too. I tried reapplying and tried to do setting spray on my beauty blender and it just. Got worse. 1) I am sorry for the long post but felt context and products were needed. 2) Please help. There's very few days I care about my make up but my graduation after 2 difficult years of school + full time work + getting laid off dec 2025, no family coming, just my partner... I just want to look pretty. Without my stupid scuffed up nose and face. I just wanna be in the moment and not worried if I look like a tomato. Please help give advice on what to do. I can test until Friday. submitted by /u/DelilahUnknown [link] [comments]
