Horrid influx of ingrown hair post waxing
Our take
In the world of self-care, waxing is often hailed as a go-to for achieving smooth, hair-free skin. However, as one user recently shared, the aftermath can sometimes be less than glamorous. The experience of dealing with a horrid influx of ingrown hairs post-waxing can be incredibly disheartening, leaving individuals feeling uncomfortable and self-conscious about their bodies. This sentiment is echoed by many, as seen in discussions surrounding ingrowns and the struggles associated with both waxing and shaving. For someone who has been waxing since their early teens, the onset of discomfort and irritation can feel like a betrayal by a beauty routine that was once trusted.
The emotional toll of experiencing painful ingrown hairs cannot be overstated. The original poster's feelings of disgust and discomfort highlight a significant aspect of body positivity and self-acceptance. When beauty routines backfire, it’s not just about the physical irritation; it can shatter one's confidence and sense of self-worth. The user expresses a sense of chaos in their body image, which resonates with many who have experienced similar challenges. The idea that we should feel comfortable in our own skin is often overshadowed by societal pressures to maintain a certain aesthetic. This is why it's crucial to approach discussions about body hair and hair removal methods with sensitivity and understanding.
So, what can be done to mitigate these frustrating issues? The poster mentions a lack of a "cleansing routine" post-waxing, which points to a critical gap in many people's approach to hair removal. It’s not just about the act of waxing itself; pre- and post-care are essential to prevent complications like ingrown hairs. For those seeking alternatives, the debate between waxing, epilating, and shaving can be daunting. Each method has its pros and cons, and the decision often comes down to personal preference and skin sensitivity. Articles like I get ingrown hairs and red bumps whenever I shave, no matter what I do! delve into similar experiences, emphasizing that finding the right hair removal method is often a journey of trial and error.
Ultimately, the conversation surrounding hair removal, ingrown hairs, and body image is an important one. It raises questions about how we approach beauty standards in a world that often prioritizes smoothness and perfection. Should we advocate more for natural bodies and embrace the chaos that comes with them? The struggle with ingrown hairs and the subsequent feelings of discomfort can serve as a reminder that self-acceptance is a continual process. As we move forward, it’s essential to foster a dialogue that encourages individuals to explore different methods of hair removal while also promoting a broader acceptance of diverse body types and hair growth patterns.
In a world obsessed with aesthetics, it’s time to ask ourselves: how can we redefine beauty standards to be more inclusive and supportive of individual experiences? As we continue to share our stories and tips, let’s aim for a community that empowers everyone to feel confident and comfortable in their own skin.
hi! f18 here, just like the title says, i got waxed after around 4/5 ish months last month, and my previous waxing exp was also really bad- led to bumpy hair in my calves area, and ingorwn hair in my inner thighs, but this time it was actually SO bad, i have bumpy hair growing all over my legs and my inner thighs now have spots from previous ingrown hair and more just seem to keep coming, in my arms theres nothing wrong but i also have 2 hairs coming from one area in y legs and pits.
This has absolutely broken any sense of comfort i had in my body i feel so disgusting and ugly, but i dont know how to get rid of them, theres no set 'cleansing routine' i follow pre and post waxing because ever since i started, which was like 3rd grade, this has never happened. is it my doing? am i going to the wrong waxing people? should i try epillating instead? (i do it for my face usually), or shaving? (never tried thinking hair would come out rough.
i could really use any advice on how i can get rid of these spots, ingrown and bumpy hair, and the 2 hair in one sithc, please.

- I get ingrown hairs and red bumps whenever I shave, no matter what I do!I'm hate having body hair anywhere on my body. And since I'm a guy it always come in so thick and its annoying me. I mainly get bumps and such on my legs and butt primarily which causes me massive dysphoria. I've TRIED everything recommended to avoid bumpy skin after shaving but nothing works!! I exfoliate everytime I shave and shower, I use SA cleanser 2 times a day, I moisturize my skin after shaving with lotion, I use a new razor everytime I shave, I wear loose pants, I clean my bedsheets weekly, I wipe every surface I sit on daily with antibacterial sprays. And I STILL GET BUMPS, ACNE AND INGROWN HAIRS!! its getting to the point where I genuinely just want to chop my lower half off, I just want smooth and clear skin! Does anybody have any advice to help? Because Im going mad😭 submitted by /u/JB_07 [link] [comments]
- Waxing? Hair too fine to pick upI have extremely fine vellus hair on my arms. It’s not even blonde it’s like white or translucent tbh. It is so fine and I find that waxing removes the hair but only by breaking the hairs and I’m left with tiny fine hair stubble. My leg hair is very fine everywhere except the inner front of my calves where it is still very fine but less so. I hate shaving and want to wax, I wax my pits and kini line and it’s perfect but these two spots I struggle with. I’ve been waxing myself for years and have a good technique down. I pull parallel not up. I use the flamingo brand pre waxed strips. Would sugaring or hard wax work better? submitted by /u/Longjumping-Winner53 [link] [comments]
