I saw my face in natural sunlight for the first time in months and im lowkey shook (I work remotely)
Our take
This is so embarrassing to admit but I work remote and my apartment doesnt get great natural light so i basically see myself in my bathroom mirror under warm bulbs every day and thought my skin was doing great but last weekend I went to brunch with friends and sat outside and when I opened my front camera to check my teeth for food I literally gasped. In direct sunlight my skin looked SO different than what I see at home. I could see texture I never noticed, some sun spots forming on my cheeks, and the fine lines around my eyes were way more visible than I thought. Im 29 and I've been doing a basic routine just cerave cleanser during the day basically and a retinol at night and thought i was fine but clearly what I was seeing at home was giving me a false sense of security, so I did a full "skin audit" and it was humbling...
Has anyone else had this kind of wake up call? I feel like working from home has made so many of us lose touch with what our skin actually looks like. Im now looking into adding some kind of treatment or device to my routine because clearly just the basics arent cutting it for what I actually want my skin to look like. What would you guys suggest has anyone been in a similar situation? Ive been seeing a lot of people mention light therapy recently so im curious about that too?

- Genuine question for people who use light therapy regularly, how did you actually know it was working?I’m a couple weeks in now and I keep going back and forth between thinking nothing is happening and then randomly feeling like my skin looks a bit calmer than usual. There’s no dramatic difference at all which is what’s throwing me off, but at the same time I’m noticing I’m not getting as irritated in the areas where I normally would and my overall tone might be a little more even in certain lighting. The problem is it’s so subtle that I can’t tell if this is just placebo or if this is actually how it’s supposed to work over time. I feel like I’m constantly checking my skin and overanalyzing every little thing which is making it even harder to judge. For those who’ve been consistent with it longer did you have a moment where it became obvious or is it more like small changes stacking up until one day you realize your skin just looks healthier overall? Also curious if anyone noticed differences depending on the device they were using because I feel like that might play a role too! submitted by /u/Radiant-Attempt-4697 [link] [comments]
