Our Take: The Elusive Lip Lock

Ah, the age-old mystery of the disappearing lipstick. It’s a tale as old as time, or at least as old as the invention of the pout. We’ve all been there, right? You spend precious minutes carefully crafting a perfect lip, a masterpiece of liner and color, only to glance in the mirror an hour later and find… well, a smudged, slightly sad ghost of your former glory. It’s like your lips have a secret mission to absorb all that glorious pigment and then promptly eject it into the ether. The frustration is real, and frankly, it’s a little insulting to our efforts. We’re not asking for a lifetime commitment from our lippies, just a decent first date that doesn't end in a messy breakup.

The culprit, as our dear /u/marzbarz2000 so eloquently puts it, is this uncanny ability of lip products to just… melt. It’s as if the very act of speaking, smiling, or, dare I say, eating, is an invitation for the color to stage a daring escape. We layer, we blot, we pray to the beauty gods, and still, the migration happens. It's the ultimate betrayal from a product that promised so much. You’re left contemplating whether your lips are just a tad too enthusiastic, a little too… *alive* for the delicate art of makeup. It’s a glamorous problem, for sure, but a problem nonetheless.

But here’s the thing: this isn't a sign of failure; it's a sign of personality. Your lips are clearly living their best, most dynamic life, and who are we to tell them to sit still? The chaos of a disappearing lip is, in its own way, a relatable, unfiltered moment. It’s the unpolished truth behind the curated selfie. So, while we might be on a quest for that elusive lip lock, let’s embrace the journey. Maybe the secret isn't to fight the melt, but to find products that can keep up with your vibrant spirit, or perhaps, just to accept that a little bit of lip drama is part of the beautiful, chaotic symphony of a confident, expressive face. After all, even couture can have a few delightful imperfections.

From Beauty

whenever i use lip liner or lipstick the product just looks like it's melting and it moves so much. it doesn't stay and i just always end up wiping it off because the end result upsets me. my base lips is not oily or anything.
