"Our Take" on Makeup and Medicated Skin

Okay, let’s talk about this skin situation. We’ve got a prescription for Clindamycin/BP, a quest for a polished look with makeup, and a sunscreen that’s throwing a bit of a tantrum. It sounds like a classic case of wanting to have your couture cake and eat it too, and honestly, we’re here for it. The idea that you have to trade your glam for glowing skin, or vice versa? That’s just not the vibe.

The real chaos, as we see it, isn’t the medication itself, but the struggle to find that perfect synergy between your skincare routine and your makeup bag. You're prescribed a powerful treatment, which is fantastic for tackling those skin goals, but you also want to step out feeling confident and put-together, which is where the makeup comes in. It's about finding products that play nice with your treatment, not fight against it. Think of it as a diplomatic mission between your dermatologist and your makeup artist. We’re not looking for “perfect” here – that’s a myth. We’re aiming for a harmonious balance, a look that feels as good as it looks, and that’s totally relatable.

The key, darling, is to approach this with a bit of playful intelligence. Instead of viewing thick sunscreens as obstacles, let's reframe them as potential canvases. Could a lighter, more fluid moisturizer be your new best friend, applied *after* your medication and *before* your sunscreen? Then, perhaps a tinted moisturizer or a lightweight foundation that doesn't feel like it’s suffocating your skin. It’s about layering strategically, allowing each product to do its job without creating a heavy, cakey situation. Remember, confidence is your best accessory, and a little bit of humor can go a long way when you’re experimenting. We’re all about embracing the journey, the little stumbles, and the eventual triumphs in achieving that empowered glow.

From Beauty

My doctor recently prescribed Clindamycin/BP to me for daytime use (tret at night). I like to wear light/medium coverage makeup for a more polished look.

My instructions are to apply cream on clean/dry face, then apply moisturizing sunscreen. All of my sunscreens are either too thick to go under my makeup or not moisturizing. I usually use the serums in the picture before applying my makeup for moisture. I also pictured the two makeup/primer duos I’d use any given day (I use one or the other, not both)
