Oily skin even after showering daily.

Our take

Hey everyone! I'm reaching out for some help with an unexpected issue I've been facing. Since last July, after switching to a new hairstyle with bangs and ramping up my gym routine, I've noticed my skin has become incredibly oily, even after showering daily. It’s driving me crazy! I feel musty and greasy, despite trying different products, including a fragrance-free shampoo. I'm also experiencing more body acne, which is new for me. Has anyone else gone through something similar? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello everyone! I am wondering if someone can help me.

I have been going back and forth in trying to figure out what is wrong with me and maybe this isn’t the right place to ask so please let me know if there is somewhere better I can put this.

Some background. Last July I decided to switch up my hair style and get bangs and I absolutely love them. Never had a HUGE issue with my face getting oily or my hair feeling super oily. I could go a couple days without needing to wash my hair. Then I decided to go to the gym much more regularly and I go 6 days a week. Still wasn’t having a huge problem. I had an issue with my weight and only eating once a day and I knew I had to fix something. And since then I have gained almost 25 pounds of all healthy weight. I feel so much stronger and happier in my body.

Here is where I feel like I am going crazy. Maybe since like January I feel like I am needing to shower and wash my body and hair once-twice, sometimes 3 times a day because my skins feels musty and greasy and oily. But my hair doesn’t necessarily feel like that. But I only feel clean if I wash my hair. My SIL is a hair stylist so she recommended I switch to a fragrance free shampoo but that hasn’t helped. My skin gets so incredibly oily throughout the day and I feel like I smell musty and greasy. I am constantly reapplying deodorant to see if that suffices and using blotting sheets or washing my face and it helps for a little till it doesn’t. I have changed deodorants to see if it helps. I don’t thinks it’s my bangs because this was never an issue last year on top of. I sleep with them in a roller every night. I try not to touch my face, my hair itself feels nice and healthy by my face and arms, and upper body feel musty. And even then I feel like I’m not describing that correctly. I am getting more body acne, face acne is tolerable, not horrible but the increase in body acne is interesting. If I have a rest day where I don’t need to shower or wash my hair. The next day I feel like my skin is crawling from how clogged I think I feel.

When I blow dry my hair after the gym when I get ready for work, I feel as if I can smell the sebum on my scalp since the air is hitting it, but I double wash my hair every time. It’s driving me crazy. My last step is to go to the doctor to see if this is something deeper but I am wondering if someone else has experienced what I am dealing with. It was literally a change from one day to the next and now I feel miserable every single day.

Thank you all so much for reading and any advice you have.
