Our take

Attention, fashion-forward wedding guest! You're on the hunt for the perfect black dress that strikes a balance between sophistication and modesty for your boyfriend’s stepsister's wedding. You want something that feels more grown-up, especially since you’re stepping into the family spotlight for the first time. While your old dress has a neckline and fit you adore, the high slit and lace-up back now feel a bit too youthful. Let’s find you a stunning, chic option that reflects your style while keeping it classy and elegant!

Looking for a wedding guest dress, preferably in black but unsure what stores to look. I’ll attach a picture of an old dress I like the neckline and fit of that I own, but seeing as I bought it at 19 and am now 24, I feel like the actual dress itself is a little young and casual looking for what I’d really like now. This is also to my boyfriend’s stepsister’s wedding (where I’d be meeting most of his family for the first time) so I’m leaning more towards something more modest. Everything I’ve found on my own seems cheap and incredibly plain. Any help would be appreciated! Also for context, qualms with this dress specifically: the high slit and the back is lace up which feels adolescent to me now? maybe I’m reading too far into it though
