My rooster Fred survived rat poison

I live in Hawaii where there’s a lot of wild chickens in the canal right behind my house. There was a colony of chickens about 20 of them. I didn’t pay attention to the chickens until a mama had her babies in my yard and I fed them feed and they all grew. So I knew Fred since he was a young chick. I named all the chickens. So less than a year I’ve been taking care of these chickens!

So what happened was one of the neighbors down the street had enough of the chickens, so someone poisoned the chickens with rat poison. I believe.

I was very upset. I was crying and I pray to God for my chickens. All of them died, but five. Fred, I thought he died with the rest and he was my favorite chicken. He was my pal he would follow me around the yard and chill with me.

Two days ago I saw him by the fence of the canal chilling and I was like oh my gosh, Fred and then I realized he was lethargic. I got very upset and I wanted him to be put off his misery. The next day I saw him again in the same spot and I fed him egg and bread, and he seemed to eat some.

Yesterday I saw him walking and I was like oh my gosh Fred survived, so I fed him. This picture is him today! I’m so grateful to be able to spend more time with him. I don’t know what’s going on, but he seems to improved a lot since the other days I saw him. He’s not eating everything I tried to give him but he’s eating a lot, and hopefully he heals and goes back to normal.

I love all birds with all my heart. Especially all the wild chickens in Hawaii. Pray for Fred please! He’s a survivor!
