Had my first street photography confrontation today. Really sad.

I was returning from a hobby shoot right after golden hour with my cam still in hand. I was walking by this shopping centre place and saw two women sitting on a bench about 10 meters in front of a massive, really bright sign chatting and laughing. The silhouettes looked nice as hell. I turned on the cam, took some shots but it wasnt anything special. Then a guy with a cigarette approached them who i presume is their friend and the shot got infinitely cooler. I framed his head into the "o" of the sign and you could see his cigarette smoking a little bit. I bet i woulda killed it in post. Overall came out a bit cyberpunky and moody. Then i see the guy literally rushing at me so i immediatley point my camera down and greet him. Hes pissed, obviously. I say that the group looked very cool and i loved the framing so i took some pictures, also tried to show him how i personally found the pictures really nice. He didnt listen and yelled at me, even while i was (very performatively) deleting the pics. Then i listened to his lecture about how all this illegal and hes gonna call the cops and he asked for my name and surname. I lied obviously. He was going to call the police genuinely but one of the women called out for him multiple times over the course of his tirade and he let me go. Im really new and ive only done like 4 sessions of street, but this is my first time having this and on such a cool shot as well. Probably was my golden shot of the day. Had to vent about it.
