Lip fillers: what actually counts as “well done”?

Since getting lip fillers (which I am not fully happy with), I have gone down a bit of a rabbit hole trying to understand what “good” actually looks like.

Before getting them, I had a very simple view:

  • Good fillers = natural-looking lips (you cannot tell they are done)
  • Bad fillers = obvious, overfilled, or “ducky” lips

For reference, I have always loved lips like Ana de Armas, Sydney Sweeney, Emma Stone, and even Kylie Jenner (slightly fuller than I would personally go for, but still very natural-looking to me).

But now that I have them myself, I am starting to realise it is more nuanced.

One thing I have noticed (including with my own lips) is that fillers can look great from the front / selfie, but from the side/profile they can look a bit over-projected or “ducky.” And from what I have read, some people actually ask for that look intentionally?

That is where I am getting confused.

  • So what actually defines well-done lip fillers?
  • Is it purely about looking natural from every angle?
  • Or is it more about personal preference, even if that includes noticeable projection?

At the moment, mine look okay from the front, but from the side they feel a bit too projected. I wish they had more “body” and softness rather than that outward look.
