Do red light therapy masks actually improve skin or are they a gimmick?
Our take
I’ve been seeing sooo many ads lately for these LED masks that are supposed to be anti-aging miracles Literally every time I open Instagram or TikTok, there’s another influencer swearing by them.
I’m in my late 40s, and while I do take care of my skin with vit C, daily SPF, etc, I feel like things are definitely starting to sag and the sun pigmentation is getting worse no matter what serums I use.
I don’t really wanna do Botox or anything too invasive tbh. Needles completely scare me, and I just want to still look like myself!
But can anyone tell me if these masks actually work?? Or are they just another overpriced gimmick that will end up sitting in a drawer gathering dust?
Would love to hear real experiences (good or bad!) if anyone’s tried them.

- For anyone that has an LED light skincare mask, do you find it made a difference for you?Super curious about these LED light masks as I see a ton of influencers use them now and I’ve seen some say the mask worked to help wrinkles, skin ‘glowiness’ and acne. Others say it didn’t make a difference for them. If you have one, do you find it to be a worthy purchase? Which brand did you buy? submitted by /u/truecrimelavender [link] [comments]
- LED mask vs Medicube Booster Pro at 25… worth it?Hi! So I’m 25 and lately I’ve been really thinking about buying something more than just skincare, like an actual gadget/device that could help improve my skin long term and maybe slow down aging a bit. My sister recently got one of those LED masks (with multiple modes, mainly the red/infrared light), which is supposed to help with wrinkles, acne, collagen etc. And I’ve also been seeing a TON of videos about the Medicube Age-R Booster Pro — people seem to love it across different platforms, but of course there are negative reviews too for both. Right now I could get the Medicube for around €150 or below on YesStyle because of discounts and points, which is honestly really tempting since it’s the cheapest I’ve seen from a legit store… but it’s still kinda expensive for me as a student 😭 So I wanted to ask people who actually have experience: If you’ve tried either (or both), which one would you recommend more? Is anyone using both at the same time or is that unnecessary? Did you actually see any results? My friends keep telling me this is something people start using at like 40 and that for me it’s a waste of money, but I feel like once wrinkles are already there it’s way harder to fix them than prevent them?? I’ve been into Korean skincare for a bit over a year now, but I’ll be honest I’m not always consistent (sometimes I literally have to set timers to remind myself to do it lol), so idk if I’m overthinking this or not. I might sound kinda clueless, but I’d really just love to hear honest opinions from people who’ve used these. Thank you so much!! 🫶 submitted by /u/softcaligo [link] [comments]
- Just got a led mask. What are your recommendable serums to use after a session?Okay, I've started the RLT. My mask arrived last week, and I've been using it pretty much every other night. I'm really enjoying it so far. It's surprisingly comfy and nice way to chill out. My main goals are tackling general signs of aging and hopefully see results. My question is, what's the move right after a session? I feel like my skin just drinks up whatever I put on it, and I don't want to waste that opportunity. Right now, I’m just using a simple hyaluronic acid serum and my usual moisturizer. I'd love to know what products you feel really maximize the effects of the red light. Are you using peptides, antioxidants like Vitamin C (at a different time of day, I assume?), or something else? submitted by /u/RadInternetHandle [link] [comments]
- Bought a cheap LED mask first, got basically nothing from it… are the pricier ones actually better?Picked up a cheaper LED mask a couple weeks ago bc I didn’t wanna spend a ton right out of the gate. Figured I’d try a budget one first, see if red light therapy was even worth getting into. It’s been pretty underwhelming tbh. Only has 2 intensity settings, feels super basic, and after using it for almost 2 weeks, I can’t really say I’ve noticed much. No real change in texture, no my skin looks better moment, nothing like that. Now I keep looking at the pricier ones, like Ulike, Omnilux, stuff in that range, and the price difference is kinda insane, like 3-4x more than what I paid. For anyone who’s tried the more expensive masks, did they actually perform better? Better fit, stronger light, more noticeable results? Or is it mostly just a nicer experience? submitted by /u/Due_Suspectt [link] [comments]
