Is This Skincare Routine Effective and Safe?
Our take
Hi! I’ve put together a simple skincare routine and I’d love some feedback on whether it makes sense or if I’m over/underdoing anything.
I have normal skin (not oily or dry most of the time). I don’t have acne, pimples, or skin conditions. My skin only gets slightly oily (especially nose) when it’s very hot or I’ve been sweating.
My main concern is hyperpigmentation and the blackheads on my nose. I have darker areas on my knees, elbows, neck, and inner thighs. My goal is to gradually even out my skin tone and have healthy, smooth, and bright skin overall. I also want to remove the blackheads on my nose and make sure that I don't get blackheads on other parts of my face.
I’m trying to keep my routine simple and safe, because I’ve never used skincare properly before and I don’t want to irritate my skin with too many products.
Here’s what I planned:
-> Morning Routine:
- Shower / body wash
- Dove soap for face (lukewarm water)
- Dove Original Beauty Cream Bar
- Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar
- Regular soap for body
- Loofah only 2–3x per week (gentle use)
- Moisturizer
- CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion OR Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
- Apply lightly on face + dry/dark body areas
- Sunscreen
- Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 50 OR La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50
- Apply on all exposed skin
- Reapply if outdoors for long hours
-> Night Routine
- Wash face with Dove soap (to remove sunscreen/moisturizer)
- Moisturizer (face + body only if needed)
- Dark body areas (2–3x per week only)
- AmLactin 12% Lactic Acid Lotion
- Apply only on dark areas (knees, elbows, underarms, etc.)
- Moisturizer after 10–15 min if skin feels dry
- Blackheads (nose only, 2–3x per week)
- Paula’s Choice 2% BHA OR CeraVe SA Cleanser
- Leave-on (Paula’s Choice) OR rinse-off (CeraVe)
- Optional under-eye treatment
- La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Eyes
Lifestyle habits
- Wash face after heavy sweating
- Change pillowcases weekly
Thank you so much!

- 25 and my skin looks ROUGH, help!!Hi! I am a 25F with skin that shouldn't look as bad as it does. Wrinkles on my forehead, lots of texture, and dark spots from acne. My skin is hard to read in terms of oily vs dry but it is acne prone and definitely can get dry at times and oily at other times. Right now, this has been my night routine for a few months. It hasn't been great in eliminating lines, spots or texture but my skin has felt more hydrated. - Round lab foam cleanser - Anua peach toner - Prescription tret - Cetaphil daily moisturizing lotion for dry sensitive skin I am ashamed to admit it but in the morning I usually just throw on SPF 50 and call it good. I have been doing some research but I am getting kinda overwhelmed with all the info I am getting. Would these be better routines to match my needs? Do any of these products interact? Night: - Ma:nyo pure cleansing oil - Vanicream cleanser - Byoma milky toner - Prescription tret/The Ordinary Azelaic acid suspension 10% cream, alternating every other day - Avene Cicalfate protective cream Morning: - Vanicream cleanser - Byoma milky toner - SPF moisturizer submitted by /u/ranch518 [link] [comments]
- I’m new and a little confused..Hello everyone! I’m pretty new to skincare and have a hard time determining if my routine is good or not… I’ve tried doing research but every person, every source and every piece of research I read seems to have different opinions on things. Im 18 and I have some acne and redness on my cheeks that I want to improve. My skin is also very dry if I don’t use any products. I also rarely wear any make up. In the morning I wash my face with the plouise foam and glow cleanser, I use a tołpa tonic, then I put on the plouise pump me pretty moisturiser and I apply la Roche posey spf 50. And before bed I do the same thing but without the SPF of course. I don’t know if these products are good long term. Online people seem to like them on blog posts but I’m scared those could be payed ads. I know the Plouise products are cherry scented but my skin doesn’t seem irritated by it? Should I be using other things too? If anyone has any tips or recommendations I’d be very thankful. Thank you🫶 submitted by /u/Difficult_Welder_703 [link] [comments]
